Transpose Data for Several Hundred Stock Trades

An understanding of stock trading, including short positions, is necessary to complete this project. To bid on this project, please make a copy of the spreadsheet and complete 3-4 new rows in the Output tab to confirm that you understand what needs to be done for the project, then include the link to your copy with your bid. Do not hesitate to ask any clarification questions before accepting the project. --- I will share with you a Google spreadsheet with two tabs: Input and Output. The project is to transpose data from the Input sheet into the Output sheet. Here is an example spreadsheet: [login to view URL] There are 150 rows in the Input of the complete spreadsheet. Each row contains one or several actions for buying, selling, shorting, or covering stock positions. Each Input row must be transposed into one or several Output rows that correspond to when the position for a stock was entered (either a buy or a short) and when the position was exited (either sell or a cover). If the Input Action is a Buy, enter "long" in the Output Direction and enter the Start Date. If the Input Action is a Short, enter "short" in the Output Direction and enter the Start Date. If the Input Action is a Sell, find the corresponding Buy for that stock and enter the End Date. If the Input Action is a Cover, find the corresponding Short for that stock and enter the End Date. Note that it is possible for the same stock to enter a long or a short position multiple times before exiting. In that case record each separate entry as a new row, and enter the same End Date for all rows when the position is eventually closed.
