I have an existing bridge that has been there for many years it is hard to say how old but my house is 80yrs old and the wisteria that grows all over the bridge is also very old as per its large stalk. The decking rotted and I removed it. I replaced the support structure for the decking. I have since been made aware that I need a building permit to do these repairs. To get a building permit I need and environmental engineer to ok the bridge structure ( it has wood poles for stringers) and pass it for the 1:200 year flood requirements.
