I'm very impressed by your post, as I consider myself to be the same as your vision. My skill set is problem solving, with a very unique collection of expertise.
I have a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering and an undergraduate degree in Cognitive/Mathematical Psychology (a focus on how people work, both mechanically and mentally). I am new to Freelancer but have consulted for the FAA, MIT, NASA and many other inst's.
I can program Excel to automate tasks that are well beyond the native Excel installation using VBA. This same language allows me to automate a vast array of tasks utilizing the entire MS Office suite.
But before I ever consider opening a new Excel workbook, I like to get to know the office employees' frustrations (e.g. "What takes up most of your time?" or "What types of mistakes are hurting our productivity?") to discover the problems/inefficiencies that are plaguing the office.
I am not afraid to use a very large variety of technologies including Google apps, keyboard and mouse recorders and cloud storage and access to attack any problem with a very large toolbelt.
I have also just been released from a VA hospital after recovering from a transmetatarsal amputation (i.e. I have no toes on my right foot now). As walking is very difficult, I do prefer to work from home, but as a veteran I have the grit to push through this and make it to an office if it is necessary.
Creativity is key, to everything. I very much look forward to your correspondence.
