The solution I need First: Identify RF modules, stack and circuit that can provide a A server/master that will talk to all the clients, send them commands and receive data back from them. Take commands from a Serial UART Maybe queue commands to clients Send commands to clients when they wake Receive data from clients when sent Battery powered Nodes(s) that will operate on a 2000ma Lipo battery Operate on the lowest possible power Receive commands within a response time of 250ms Send back some random data to simulate sensor input Turn On / Off an LED to simulate command input To be used in the 433 or 915 or 2.4gz bands in Australia Evaluated In order of priority Node power consumption, expected battery life from 2000ma 4.2 Lipo C or C++, Needs to use a toolchain that is Free Hardware any RF module that has a price point of less than $US18 per device Arduino IDE Compatible

Hello there, The RF module to be used and the technology itself hardly depend upon the working distance and amount of data to be transferred, in other word the connection speed. For example for short distances (less then 50m) BLE is really good and a lot of inexpensive modules available down to 5 USD or even less. For longer distances the LoRa or a similar technology is the choice, or even a more simple RF transceiver, working on 433 MHz or 915 MHz frequency band. But this depends upon security considerations. Do you need the connection to be secured and encrypted or not. All other options from your description could be adjusted to the selected connection technology. So, once again, the working distance and the connection speed is the key you must define here.

Also doe the target price include the pcb/micro? I develop a system that it would work in Arduino and both Atmel Studio - this allows for debugging when you need it! I have previously designed ble devices. Assuming you would like to send simple commands to clients and receive telemetry data that is a couple of bytes from each client. If that is the case BLE is a viable choice. There are two things to consider though, - distance between slave/master - how many client nodes will there be please drop a line over chat for further discussion. best regards,
