$1 USD - My answer will be by parts. Starting here:
$1 USD - Frankly speaking, I’m a foodie, so it really pains me that I only have to choose one.
$1 USD - But if I’m being more honest with myself,
$1 USD - there’s only one food that I absolutely CANNOT have in every single day of my existence: Rice.
$1 USD - Yes, that plain, white and soft seed of Oryza sativa that is rich in nutrients and can
$1 USD - make anyone fat when consumed in fast and large amounts.
Yes, that one. And no, it doesn’t have to do with me being a Filipino. It’s just that there are a lot of things you could do with rice. Depending on my mood every meal time, I either pair it with fried, crispy viands or drenched it with warm and veggie filled soup or like last time, I dyed it with green and blue food colouring. Why do I love it? If I’m being philosophical, I’ll say it’s because rice almost represents how I look at myself or how I want to be in life: easily adaptable, can be shaped into many forms, can be created into a variety of fun things and most importantly, can fill people with happiness. In truth, I don’t know why. Maybe because rice is always just there for me, I eat it when I’m happy, I eat it when I’m down, and I still eat it when I’m in no mood to eat. My love for rice is something I can’t justify with words alone.
