need an algorithm to select dock slips at the lake. There are 82 dock slips available and about 60 people that want a slip. Everyone has a preference of which slip they want. We thought ask for everyones top 5-6 slip choices and try and sort it out from there.
So if 5 people want the same slip as me as their first choice it is easy, just randomly select the winner of that slip. Now 4 persons slide to their second selection, but someones second selection might have been someone elses first selection however the second selection becomes someones first selection because they lost in the first round.
its complicated. thought an agolrithm could figure that out.
