I have owned an Italian restaurant for almost 2 years, in Seoul, South Korea.
The name of the restaurant is Brera, which is the name of one of the fanciest streets in Milan city centre.
I recently found out that someone else had registered the name brera in the trademark office, so I needed to take measures.
My restaurant is quite popular and, therefore, I can t change its name. The solution I found is the following:
I registered the name "arerb" which is brera read the opposite way. This legally allows me to have a logo with the same letters.
The concept of Brera is that of a super casual restaurant where everybody ends up knowing each other and where diners are basically all friends. Brera is not run as a professional business, there are not upsales, not food costs tracking, etc. I would say the way it is run is just the opposite of what they teach in the business schools. And, ironically, it is because of this reason is the most popular Italian restaurant in the country.
So I was thinking about a logo that says something like "Brera: reverse business" "reverse hospitality" "unconventional practices", etc.
Note that the logo can't read Brera, but you can use the letters (maybe putting them reverse) so that who comes can still read brera even though it is not written this way.
