Dear illustrator, I'm looking for a freelancer that can help me illustrate the sci-fi novel I'm writing.

This first posted project should be the trial to find the ideal partner, to whom I expect to order several illustration jobs during the following months.

This first order is a contest, to help me find the right freelancer, and targets 3 scenes that appear at the beginning of the story.

The story takes place in year 2050, after a series of circumstances have accelerated polar ice melting, and the sea has risen 60 meters. The world has succumbed to a dark age, with violence, despotism, cults and a society that merely survives, ruled in strenght by few elites.

I would like to receive your sample works for the following scenes:

Scene 1: Approach to the Pyramids Complex.
Nighttime. Cloudy. Full moon behind some clouds.
A single plane (like a C130, old, seasoned, patched) approaches the great pyramids of Gizah complex, to deliver its cargo. It's a secret mission; it will have to fly low to drop a raft + dive team next to the monuments.
The important thing: the action occurs in the future, and the sea has risen 60 meters, so half of the main pyramid lies below the dark waters. The tip of the second pyramid also rises above sea level. The rest of Cairo city lies below the sea.

Scene 2: Night Dive
The dive team reaches the bottom of the great pyramid of Gizah, below 60 meters of seawater and algae, and prepares to enter the megastructure via its primary access. Lights, dark waters, debris, rust, kelp algae. Can be 4-5 divers. They carry cumbersome equipment.

Scene 3: A boy contemplates the sea
A lonely boy (6-7 years old) contemplates the sea, next to the beach. He looks uncomfortable, unsafe. It's a strange beach: no sand, no people, no clear waters. As the sea levels are rising on the planet, there's no time to get erosion and white sand in the rising coastline; the land ends abruptly into the waters.
It's windy, and dark clouds coming. Rough sea. No one likes to be next to the water these days. The boy is poor, dirty, messy hair, with signs of insufficient nutrition, but with a spark of hope in the eyes. He wants to play in the water, but the place doesn't invite to stay, the water is unclean, and he is about to leave, to go back to the encampment where he lives, up to the hill. Maybe someday he will cross the ocean to find better lands.

150dpi or 300dpi
2000px (width or height).
Maybe vertical format in the underwater scene, and horizontal in the others.
But you can choose freel and/or ignore these specifications..

the Boy in the beach scene, he is in a city invaded by the sea, or he is really in the beach. any city specifyed in the books?

  He is in the countryside, invaded by the sea. Maybe a farm semi submerged could work great. We have to transmit the sensation of "this is a wrong beach", this shouldn't be a beach.

Hi. Are we required to demonstrate just the one example in order to receive award or do you require all three scenes for the proposed prize, €100? I can appreciate a budget is what it is, all the same, €33.33 euro per image seems a little light for illustrations of this complexity. I trust no offense taken in my asking.

  I will use them for website, for the moment.
  
  Maybe one of them ends being the cover of the book, si let’s say 150dpi and about 1500px width or height.
  
  Maybe vertical format in one of them (the underwater one), horizontal the others. But you can chose freely.
