Here is how to make this effort become a portrait and not a snapshot. Please try harder to be artistic and not just copyists.

Here also is a stippled image. If I can do it you should be able too, also. It is at bottom of page.

Using the Pic Sketch app on my iPhone 6+ I produced a stippled image. I am not an artist and so I did not straighten the bow tie or play with all of the effects but the result is reasonably good.

Also, this image is not black-and-white. The winning image will be black and white except the red bow tie, the persons image will be stippled. The background will be a black-and-white non-stippled big city (say, like New York) background.

I obviously failed to make myself clear. Please excuse my error. Here is a link to show a series of stippled images:

When I first heard about the process of taking a color image and converting it to the Wall Street Journal style it was called a "stipple". I see that people may have forgotten this word and now call the process pencil sketch. Originally, these images were hand engraved on copper plates and the plate, in turn, were used to print illustrated books and newspapers. When stippling first began hundreds of years ago there were no photographs, no cameras, no film yet. I have a stippling free app on my iPhone Pic Sketch. You might send an image to your iPhone and then use Pic Sketch.
