Redesign our old neighborhood association logo using the basic image but bring it a new brand and a new life. We are a neighborhood association in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. We have a very old logo from the 70s and a website almost as old (seemingly so). For more about us visit www.sheffieldneighborhood.org.

We are looking to keep the circle of buildings but refresh the logo with a more contemporary or updated fresh vision. I leave that up to the creative designers who will win the competition. The chosen logo (with board approval) will live on for decades to come as our primary assocation logo.

What imagery or inspiration might it include?

We have buildings in the circle logo because we are know for our historic architecture in our neighborhood. We are also known for being the garden district of Chicago so flowers and bright life and color come to mind as possible inspiration. We just celebrated our 50th Anniversary of our Garden Walk and Music Festival. I'd rather not focus on the music since we may not be keeping that but gardens/flowers and two story residential buildings like in our current logo are two themes that should continue.

You can reuse the circle logo or come up with something new but people recognize that circle. One idea would be to straighten the buildings out into a line instead of a circle. Sometimes the circle and the words don't connect very well (circle is small and words are long). We also use SNA to refer to our association but if you use SNA you should also have Sheffield Neighborhood Association as well in the logo.

Genrally the circle and the words (Sheffield Neighborhood Association) don't seem to connect in most so I wonder if someone would be able to make our circle of buildings in a straight line instead of a circle and try new font below ? Just a thought. If you are unable to see other designers comments I've made I can give more details.

  you can take the circle and enhance it or make a whole new logo but using the buildings (not skyscrapers). I am open to both but leaning towards modifying previous one unless I am wowed by a new one.
