To all designers and artists,
I'm a PhD Student in Physics and Machine Learning, looking to set up a personal website (https://www.martin-sanner.com) for professional contacts.
As part of that, I am trying to also set up some personal branding, and am thus looking for a website logo and favicon.
My main area of study is the evolution of active regions on the sun (causing solar storms, can be seen on earth eg in Aurora Borealis).
For this, I'm using Machine Learning (ie neural networks/convolutional neural networks in this case), so think collection of points connected towards some output after a few iterations.
The approach is firmly planted in Computer Vision, so something like an Eye with a solar system or the sun for an iris might be an inspiration.
I've previously tried combining all of this into one logo, as seen on the live website and attached to this contest. This attempt frankly went a bit overboard, as I feel there is a bit too much going on in the logos (attached to the contest).

Currently, I have the website color scheme(selected with https://color.adobe.com/de/create/color-wheel) set to #4183A8, #2E97FF, #708BC2, #C79A20, #C2B26D, handselected as I am studying the sun for my research and wish to encompass that and my remaining work in the design process.
Unfortunately, I am by no means talented at the design process, so I'm not particularly set on that set of colors. Similarly, I've set the font to "Aldrich", though am willing to change that should a better one be found.

Overall, the website is still work in progress, though I figure that since the general idea is set, I should be considering proper branding.

As such, as pointed out above, I'm looking for:
- A logo to be used for personal branding
- An icon for professional appearances as an alternate to Fotos
- A favicon to be used on the website

Of course, as per the Freelancer agreement I'm expecting to retain the rights for the winning entry (ie the IP to transfer). The Logos must obviously be made by each entrant.
I prefer conscise designs, hopefully encompassing my interest in astrophysics, machine learning and mathematics.
